I first met Sara three years ago when she moved into our house. She had just moved from Florida, and my family and I were about to move to Gaithersburg, MD. While gone for the school year, we rented our house out to five college girls and Sara was among those girls to live in “Hodge-Lodge”. While our family was back in TN for Christmas break, I asked Sara to cut my hair. She was in the midst of getting her cosmetology degree and I didn’t know her very well, so I was a little nervous. But as Sara chopped away, while I chatted away, I realized I liked Sara (and my new hairdo) very much. So began our “haircutting friendship”……it was during our haircutting times that I heard about Sara’s life, about Eric, her ideal ring, wedding dress dreams and then the engagement. And boy, was I excited to find out Eric and Sara were engaged! Eric is so perfect for Sara. He is so loving towards her and cares for her greatly. They both have a great sense of humor and were non stop jokers-I had such a great time with you both!

Congratulations, Eric and Sara!

My life is wonderfully full. As it is Thanksgiving today, I am particularly grateful and mindful of how blessed I truly am. I have a great God. I have a loving family, a devoted dog and a beautiful home. My friendships are valuable. And my needs are met daily. My heart is glad and my life is rich.
To all, Happy Thanksgiving.

The Hodgson family loves the Meffords. Not only do they serve FX and our church so effectively, but they are fun and enjoyable to be with. We always love when they come over for dinner or we get to hang out with them!!! Ryan and Monica, I had a great time stomping around downtown with you guys and your crazy pooches! (Well at least Maxine is crazy…).

Love you guys!

This past Saturday, I had the opportunity to second shoot with the excellent Ben Finch. This was not my first time working with Ben, so I was quite excited to be photographing with him again. His simple and beautiful photography style inspires me every time I visit his blog. So, it was such a priviledge to be able to learn from him and his fabulous business! Thank you Ben for asking me to come along. Anytime!!
Saturday was such a gorgeous Fall day- perfect wedding weather!

The bride, Ashley.

Isaac and Ashley had a pretty cool getaway car: A perfectly shiny 69′ Mustang!

Congratulations, Isaac and Ashley!

Hope. Dear Hope.

Hope is one of my best friends. She is a junior at UT and is going to study abroad next semester. How I will miss her! She is so easy to talk to and afternoon hours spent with her always slip by too quickly. Usually, we grab a cup of coffee together, but this afternoon we splurged with gelato. Oh my, it was good.
I have known Hope for a long time, but it wasn’t till last year or so, that we really got to know one another. It is surprising we haven’t always been such good friends, because we are quite similar in many, many ways. So, spending time with Hope is always delightful. I love how fun and likable and intelligent she is. She is beautiful and has a kickin’ sense of style. I was so very excited when we set up this lifestyle shoot……And of course, Hope was wonderful.

Oh, Hope, thank you for coming.

Much love to you.

I left my house early hoping to have time to re-check my favorite photo spots and mill about downtown before Travis and Ashley arrived. However, my little delightful, peaceful plans were sadly thwarted: I ran into traffic, forgot which exit I had to take, passed our meeting place and attempted three times to park in the “NO PARKING ZONE”. I know world, three times! Thankfully, I did arrive on time, and as I crossed the road slightly embarrassed, I wondered (and laughed) why anyone would hire such a stupid person as myself? As I greeted them with a flustered (or so it felt) smile, my embarrassment quickly subsided, because I realized, I was about to photograph one of the nicest couples. Travis is as laid back and as easy-going as it gets and Ashley, not only has a laugh that makes you want to laugh right with her, but she also such a great name. Hehe…..lame, I know. I am sorry, but I had to throw that in somewhere.

There is that infectious laugh!

“Hooray, we are getting married!!”

Ashley, you looked gorgeous today!

Putting their lives (and mine) at risk for the sake of a” middle of the road shot”……I think the results were quite satisfactory though!

Congratulations, Travis and Ashley!!

To me, it is so hard to believe that there is only one more day of October. Where has the time gone? It feels like just yesterday, I was packing for our family vacation and enjoying the beach. Yet here I am, getting ready to say hello to November and Thanksgiving and Black Friday. I must confess, I am not too upset time has gone by so quickly, for I do love fall. It is one of my favorites.

The leaves are pretty. Saturdays are filled with college football. People have fires. The crisp air causes us to dig out our sweaters from the back of our closets. The days are shorter, and you feel like you should be in bed at eight. We go to Halloween and Fall parties. We make caramel popcorn and eat Honey Crisp apples. Mom makes her annual butternut squash soup (which is fantastic!). And there is nothing like drinking a hot cup of coffee outside in the cold…..aah, yes. Have a fabulous “last day of October” or as it is nationally known “Halloween” tomorrow!

After thinking upon it carefully, I decided to move to WordPress. I like their features and formats, and I can still use Photobucket. I enjoy changing things up every once in a while, and I believe this blog demonstrates my style more than my old blog. Frankly, I thought this would be a fun and fresh start. Fresh start, you ask? Yes, my WordPress fresh start. I am, as of today, October 28th 2009, declaring myself a better blogger, with weekly updates. My other dear blog was experiencing so much trauma in its life (technical difficulties), I thought it proper and timely to give it a much-needed break. Blogging was a difficult process and that didn’t exactly encourage new posts. I might return to it one day, but for now, I want my readers to have some proper consistency from me. Truly I do. So, here is to a fresh start and a new blog!
